Looking to improve my project

hey guys,

I posted this project around last year here on Core77, and have had it on my portfolio since. I’ve had lots of good feedback form non-designers, but the feedback is up and down when shown to people in ID…

I’d really love any advice on how to improve it… should i look back at the presentation and re-do the process and sketches, and how the ideas where brought up? or are the issues with the final design?

I’d really like to have it as a good and strong piece in my portfolio, so any help would be great… and i’ll leave u with the project

The Astrum Meera is a proposed concept car possessing several distinctive features that play a unique role in safety, sustainability, and practical design. The exhaust of the car has built-in sensors that track the level of CO2 emmisions and alert the driver when it exceeds the normal range. The wheel rims work through magnetic levitation, like train wheels, making the car lighter and faster. The side mirrors are hidden when parked and roll out of the body once the engine starts. The mirrors have a built-in camera system that allows the driver to clearly see outside from inside the vehicle without opening windows in the rain or turning your head around.

This is the whole process from start to finish, showing a few highlights from each phase.

Dig up the link from the old post. As I recall I think pretty much all was covered back then. No need to repeat the same comments. Start there.

If you are committed to doing something automotive you are really going to have to spend a lot of time nailing down the proportions. I think that your professional modelling and rendering skills are only polishing an unrefined design, and the end result is awkward and clunky. Unless you have a lot of time to redo the whole project, I would probably just tackle something smaller scale to showcase your ID skills, doing a car is such a challenge since the proportions are so critical, it’s like drawing a face, if the eyes are a little off, or the nose is a little high it’s immediately obvious.

thanks guys, much appreciated
