Can anyone recommend a good reference book or tutorial that can get me started working with LEDs?
I’m overwhelmed by all the information out there and would like to find a resource that explains the big picture in a way that is easy to understand for the artist or layperson. Ideally I’d like to take a class, but I’m in a very rural area and there’s nothing like that going on around here that I’m aware of. I think I’d do fine with a book or online tutorial, it’s just a question of finding the right one, and I thought maybe someone here might be able to offer up their favorite references.
I’m no electrician, but I can solder and I can wire a lamp.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Jule, unfortunately LED technology isn’t quite as simply as “wiring a lamp”, but it’s not rocket surgery either … I don’t think. But then, I’m not a rocket surgeon . …
Google is a very “intelligent” search engine. You can type, “How do I wire LEDs” and you will get something (like I did)
i.e., LEDs for Beginners : 9 Steps (with Pictures) - Instructables
Forgive me - the mention of soldering and wiring a lamp was only meant to indicate my skill level with things electrical - ie, pretty basic, although not non-existant.
The “Instructables” reference was fantastic! Thanks, I had completely forgotten about that resource. The comments are almost as helpful as the tutorial.
As for Google, yeah I’m familiar with it. I was just hoping other Core77 readers might be willing to share their favorite and most helpful LED references, since we’re a self-selected audience - sift the wheat from the chaff, as it were.
