It looks like Grcic didn’t get past the extrude and taper functions on his Krups products. Yuk.
At least Jasper morrisons designs for Rowenta were considered and well refined.
In my opinion these products are a step back for Krups.
I’ve had a low opinion of Krups since the early '90’s when they held a kitchen and bath product competition.
No one won. Their explanation (if you can call it that) was that none of the entries were of sufficient interest and ingenuity to warrant an award…

Design is not about 3d packages man, get a life, I think it is defietely a step forward, as their previous aesthetic was a bit stinky at some points, these are quite nice and clean designs.
(Maybe you preffer overdesigned UFOs in your kitchen, but that is not the taste over Europe)

I agree with the posts. Much like Braun, Krups is trying to sell some sort of history in their designs. If you don’t understand why this is a little backwards, go read Cordy Swopes article on the front page.
What I think is interesting is there seems to be so little form development here. I’ve been trying to find some reasoning, whether ergonomic or the golden section. It seems like someone layed down some lines at random and someone else bought them because of the signature on the bottom of the page. None of the products seem unique.
Having bashed them…I would like to see more images. I keep finding the same unflatering one. Also, has anyone seen these in the store. Are we all missing the great parts?
To me, KRUPS says: Credible, German, Utilitarian.
I think these designs successfully communicate that.
You can call it retro or anti design, but regardless, it’s about differentiation.
Just like an Xbox360 should be? Good thinking. You’re on top of it.
