Interview Questions

What kind of questions would you ask if you were conducting an interview for an industrial designer position? I would like a heads up as I got an interview, it’s my first one, but I really want it because it’s the perfect spot. Anybody know?

Some old standards:

Why do you want to work here?

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Why did you get into design?

How do you start a project?

What do you do when someone gives you input on a project you do not agree with?

Do you research the target consumer when doing a project?

What is one of your favorite products and why?

How will you be an asset to our current team?

What will you learn working here?

Do you like the city/town we are located in?

If you’re interviewing at a large corporation, watch out for the HR people…they always ask the tough questions

“Tell me about a problem you’ve encountered and explain to me how you worked to resolve it.”

i’ve never had a good interview with an HR person, the two times i’ve interviewed with them, they always ask the most random questions. the last one i had with HR i ended up accidently saying, i wasn’t prepared because i couldn’t come up with any good answers. the interview didn’t last that long after that. most design interviews you talk about design and your skills- no problem.
