I am looking for advice on jobs in the industrial design industry. I am specifically interested in working for companies that create techology products that have a large element of usability and design factored into their creation, for example the ipods of the world or even robotics. I am not specifically a designer myself but would like to work with people to come up with new products.
What would this position be called? ARe these small firms like IDEO or larger ones like Sony? What are some good resources to learn more about this industry. I have already joined my local IDSA chapter but would like to know about other options.
My background is in computer science but I also do freelance graphic design/3d design work on the side.
