ID in Architectural Firm

Hey all,

Has anybody ever done, or knows of anybody who has been an industrial designer for an architectural firm?

I just checked out SOM’s website and I’m a little curious.

I’ve done some industrial design work while in an architecture firm. It’s mainly been doing furniture and lighting design. In the positions I’ve held it’s been more of a large scale concept design work instead of the nitty gritty details. I’m curious about the SOM stuff too. I wonder what all they do or if all of the industrial design work revolves around architecture.

Here’s a smaller studio based out of Kansas City that does both.

I’ve been to Kem Design for a party once, nice studio!

I have a friend that has spent much of his career at architecture firms as an ID guy. He did a lot of visual design, designing the actual aesthetics.
