I was just wondering how far HR departments will typically go to screen incoming mail to other departments. Two weeks ago I was emailed by a company product development manager who saw my corflot portfolio and asked if I would be interested in an ID position. I contacted him and we had a brief phone interview which seemed to go well. So, I decided to send him a hard copy of my resume and some work samples just so he had it in front of him. Today I got a rejection form letter from their HR department.
I’m guessing that they may have screened it first, even though I had specifically addressed it to him? Can I expect this to be standard practice? I do intend to call him tomorrow and ask if he had received my resume and work samples by mail, but I’m just curious if this is something that I can expect to occur in most situations.
