Help with a project quote

I am looking for some guidance on what to quote for a project I have been approached with. I am having the classic problem of trying to reach that perfect number that will make me some money, but won’t scare them off. I am by no means a practicing professional; just a college student that does some freelance on the side. Also, this is a smaller company, so that only adds to my worries of them not accepting a quote.

Here are the parameters I was sent. A fairly simple and straight forward project.

1. Create a 3-D image of a book with our logo and tag line on the cover.

2. Background color should allow the logo and tagline to standout and be crisp and clear.

3. The final image should be 300 to 600 dpi. We plan to use for various size picture inserts on our website. Smallest is about 1.5” x 1.5”. Don’t know what the largest would be but we may use in a 8.5” x 11” flyer and would want a crisp image 600dpi for commercial printing purposes.

4. The final image should look like a picture of a 3-D Book not clip art rendering.

5. Quote to include a) hours and rate/hr for complete project or b) project cost total

6. Quote to also include lead time from acceptance of quote and valid for 45-days.

7. Finished product electronically transmitted – in your judgment, if this is not a good way to go feel free to quote other.

Any ideas on an hourly rate; or total project quote would be a big help.
Thanks in advance!
