I’m struggling between writing copy for my design firm in first-person or third-person. What do you guys feel are the strengths and weaknesses of both? Our background info is that we’re an architecture design/fabrication studio in Philadelphia. I noticed that a lot of architecture places will speak in third-person but I’ve generally written my own portfolio for job applications in first-person.
Examples (links, quotes) would be greatly appreciated.
Not sure if it matters one way or another but I’d probably prefer to be reading it written in first person. If I was a potential client I’d want to know that someone who actually worked for the company wrote the copy.
Just checked probably the top 3 largest design firms websites and their about pages are all written in first person. Some of them may start off in third person with a sentence or two about [company name] but then they get into first person mode [who we are, what we do, where were going].
