First Job/Internship

I think many students, such as myself, are wondering how people got their first footwear design internship/job. Tell us your story and how you got your foot in the door.

I am about to start my first shoe internship this January. I think getting a job is a pretty straight forward. Do really good work, compile it into a really good portfolio, present it to companies (hardest part is to get the contacts), get lucky and land a job.

In my circumstance I think the last part (luck) had a lot to do with it.

As far as internships go I think companies are more concerned/willing to find great talent and teach the industry specific skills.

I don’t have any shoes in my portfolio and got hired. That being said I also have a the great reputation of my school behind me. That certainly makes the whole process easier.
