It’s been five years since I last lived in Milwaukee, but I can tell you that it does have an active design community. Be sure to connect with the crew at Flux Design - they are always showing off new work and putting on cool events. Other avenues to check out would be Gallery night in the 3rd Ward and the design programs at MIAD.
