DESIGNER FED-UP NEEDS TO MOVE ON

PRODUCT DESIGNER VERY TIRED OF DESIGN JOB AND MANAGMENT STYLE IN NEED OF A NEW JOB IN HONG KONG.

ANYONE GOT ANY CONTACTS??

where do you want to go ?

Is HK really a good place for ID though? I thought they did mostly toys, watches, and knock-off electronics?

I’m sure they need designers in China to copy every single American design and sell it on the black market.

Why are you guys being assholes? If you wan to look for design jobs in the south pacific, you should look into singapore. There are alot of good turn-key manufacturers and design houses in singapore, and the pay isn’t too bad. Good Luck.

Or Wal-Mart…buyer in Seatle area caught importing fake sony TVs and DVD players.

We also need basket weavers in Vietnam.

seriously. shows you how infantile some people areound here are. the person is asking for help, and last thing he/she needs is more sarcasm.

That’s a very inaccurate, Westernized view of looking at things. What does that have to do with the black market? And that comment on basket weaving in Vietnam- oh please.

Just open a nail salon and get out of design if you want a change.
Or maybe a drycleaner!

No man, drycleaning is for East Indian people!

Once again. That’s a very inaccurate, Westernized view of looking at things.

Not all westerners think this way, just the bigotted jerks.

LOL, funny

sometimes these boards need to have a moderator of some sort. so uncool that someone seeking advice has to read through such immature responses.

good luck mover, and hope you find an employer soon.

try this one:
www.jobsdb.com
you can choose from a lot of city in Asain, such as Taiwan, Hong Kong…
When it brings you to the front page, go ahead and click on hong kong. I think hong kong is the only city link which has “Designer” as a catagory to choose from. But if you are going for other city, you can just type in “designer” to search.
 good luck!

That site certainly has a lot of jobs in Product Design, but most of them require you to be able to speak Chinese (cantonese/mandarin). Some even require written. That’s not gonna to help us living/working in the US.

Try anyway, if you are applying for a higher position. Some company wouldn’t mind if you don’t speak Chinese ( if your skills is bad and have no experience, then that’s another issue). Even they listed on the requirement for fluent Cantonese, but some place prefer to have a fluent English speaker over a non-English speaker. Plus you can learn while you are there. Most people lived in the city knows English. Remember Hong Kong used to be British land.
