design schools shop survey - results

Results of the on-going shop survey can be found here:

http://www.cala.umn.edu/workshop/documents/SHOPSSURVEY.pdf

There is curently data for about 20 schools, so this should be of some value. We’re still looking for data from a few (RISD, Pratt, CMU, OSU, etc) so if your school isn’t included, perhaps you could harass your shop personnel ( I’m sick of doing it).

Here again are the questions.

~# of total students?

~# of ID students?

shared shop? who with? (sculpture, architecture, etc…)

professional staff? hrs/wk?

of student staff? hrs/wk?

~hours open/wk?

~total sq/ft

~woodshop sq ft?

~metal/machine shop sq ft?

other sq ft?

welding? which processes?

thermoforming?

metal casting?

forge?

Rapid Prototyping/CNC equipment? Which?

other notable features?

Thanks again for responses.
