Design materializes brand?

Is this a quote? If so, what/who is the source?

Google was no help.

Don’t know the source, but it is an interesting point.

I think that products and services (the people) are the only interface we have with a brand, seen as an entity. So in this way the design of a product is part of the physical manifestation of a brand, you might say. Every time we see or use the product (and experience the design), we are interacting with the brand as well. A lousy experience will make us rethink our sentiments towards a brand.

There are many other factors though, besides design. Design is just part of the whole picture. Besides design, you have advertising, retail, peer-to-peer contact or previous experiences that influence the “Brand”.

Most of those things are indeed designed.
