anyone give this guy a whirl yet? its a tad pricey.
I saw it in person and played with it briefly at the National Retail Expo…
The build quality was very nice, but I don’t know if I’d recommend it for a designer. The CPU is rather slow at 1.2ghz (though low power consumption) and it has integrated video. Also the multi-touch panel it uses is a non-Wacom digitizer, and I didn’t have a chance to test it in art apps, so it may not have the best pressure sensitivity.
Tablet PC’s have kind of taken a turn for the worst in the design realm - as far as I know very few companies are still making 14" tablets, and have all moved to 12" units. I know many of us on here have the Toshiba Tecra M7 which was their last 14" unit that had the benefits of a higher res 1400x900 display, Wacom digitizer, and decent specs - but it still has issues with lackluster build quality, weight, and integrated video (though I believe some said an Nvidia card was an option?). Might be worth looking for one used on Ebay if you’re trying to get a Tablet PC.
snap. didnt know it was a non-wacom. bummer.
