Cool new stuff in Apple OSX Tiger

Spotlight: Finally the filesystem-as-database arrives. Looks like a nice implementation (is that Fitts law I see in the upper right?!)

I’m still curious about Apples position on the OS vs. App handling files. I might just fork over the $130 just to see how this feature works and/or changes how I interface with my e-crap. I’m particularly intersted in the promise of “smartfolders” which are essentially virtual folders that contain instant search queries. ie. no more forcing you to organize your MP3’s in “artist” folders–now you can have it by “album” or whatever.
