coating aluminum

Is there a way to coat aluminum or other similar material that has been painted so that it can be used in food pacakaging?

thx

I know anodizing basically etches the material of impurities, but it may still remain porous. The ultimate goal would be to have a non-porous product for food use, correct?

thing is, im doing salt and pepper shakers out of light bulb, i want to retain materials used for making bulb. Food will not be in constant touch with tin (i belive screw is made of), so i think it might function.
