career in ID professor

What do you think about career in professor?
I heard that there is still a nationwide shortage of Industrial Design professors.

I think it is a rewarding career where you may affect young kids, initiate research projects, teach what you love, and get summers off (maybe), but pay far less than what you do in design management.

Any thoughts?

From the job postings, there does seem to be a demand for ID teachers. A logical solution to your interest and concerns would be to teach part time. Most ID schools need a tangible link to current ID. Part time teachers that work in their field are an asset to any program.
