(New Milford-AP, Sept. 17, 2004 Updated 12:26 PM ) _ About 100 jobs are being eliminated in New Milford by Nestle, the world’s largest food and drink company.

Nestle is closing down its New Milford research and development center after more than two decades.

The local jobs will be split between Nestle plants in Marysville, Ohio, and Switzerland. Some of the 100 New Milford workers involved will be offered transfers.

The research center works on packaging, product development and equipment research in the food service industry.
