Boat shows in 2023

Any boat industry designers here? I’m heading to the Miami show this year. Anyone planning to go?

I love walking around boat shows even though I’ve never owned one myself.

The atmosphere tends to be uplifting and some boat designs are positively beautiful.

My company has a 5 year plan to break into the boat industry. I wasn’t considering going to Miami, Annapolis is closer to me. If I can get a couple of things ticked off my list I have family in Florida I would like to visit.

Are you in the boat industry? I’m focused appliances and systems for blue water sailboats.

Yes…taking on boat industry clients this year.

I’m attracted to marine industry due to its efficiency requirements. I love that there is an industry where people will pay to live below standards they would accept on land. The idea is that these new efficiencies willl leak out into more general use once they gone through the process at sea.

Not a boat designer but I go every year. A personal goal of mine is to be in the marine industry and I love going to the boat show to see the latest innovations.

We exhibited at the Dusseldorf Germany “Boot 2023” Show at the end of January. Show attendance was really good for all nine days of the show, and interest was high in all sectors we talked to. The show had been on hiatus for the past two years due to covid. 15 halls of boats and related equipment and services, billed as the world’s largest boat show, it sure feels like it. Would recommend.

Wow, 9 day show! That is intense.

Any pics to share from it?

Sure thing, have a lot. What is the best way to share a batch of pictures?

Yes, a nine-day show is a killer. Starting with the plan of the grounds.

Messe Düsseldorf. Makes my feet hurt just thinking about it. Was your hotel bill ridiculous? 9 days has to be over $5k.

Plus 3 days setup, 3 days teardown, booth construction, display rentals, goods shipment, airfare from Japan, it adds up! The hotel was just a portion, naturally, the entire hotel industry raises the rates for the duration of the show. ( the forum system allows me five photos per reply and three replies, so I will keep the photos coming as permitted. )

Cool stuff. Definitely better than Medica. At that show I’m paying $600/night for 3 stars.

Stayed at a place within a short walking distance from the main station. One of those new hotels that are seemingly designed around social media photos. Young and friendly responsive staff, three stars, around 100 a night. Like the food options around the center of town.
