Does anyone use or know of places where they use Catia V5 for ID? Compared to say Alias Studio or Rhino? I know there was some marketing to the ID community for Catia’s new Imagine & Shape tools but is anyone actually using it for ID?
I often do it.I was a support enginer for CATIA software in a software trade company.But now I am a designer.I once used pro/e,UG,Solidwork,Ideas and so on 
.But I like using CATIA in my project.It is very power and ease to learn.
I know Black & Dekcer use it to develop surfaces on their products
I recently saw a post that black & decker was looking for Pro/E surfacing experts. maybe the catia guys are too hard to find so they want to train the proe experts to use catia? humm??
I have contacts at Nokia who say they have recently moved to using it for a mix of ID and mech work. I believe it is part of a copy wide roll-out.
CATIA is used more in transportation design. We don’t have it in Chicago but our German office has three CATIA stations (among others) and they use it for two of our transportation-related clients.
From we I’ve heard, it’s a good program to create free-form surfaces work with, comparable to Pro/E or Solidworks.
