hi all,
I came across this new course “Advanced Design Visualization” (http://www.dh.umu.se/default.asp?sida=657) offered at Umea institute of design, Sweden. I went through the course contents but was not able to figure out how much the course will help a designer?
My queries are
How good is the course? In what way it is helpful to a designer, is there a need for seperate course on visualisation.
i heard that Umea is not soo reputed… is it so…
Umea design institute, Sweden is the worst choice!!!

I think the course description is very detailed, and it says everything one needs to know. Advanced design issues that relate to the development of the discipline are not for everybody. Particularly if you cannot understand the course description, it is probably not for you.
Storytelling is one of the important issues in design today, along with emotionality and intuition. Doing everything by gut feeling is not a reliable strategy. Design courses in Europe require a lot of thinking, analysis, and discussion.
Umea indeed has an excellent reputation in the international design community.
By the way, it’s “separate” not seperate".

I know that some people advertising Umea design imstitute all the time here. Some people who have relationship with Umea Design Institute make questions and answers accordinh to their plans. Umea Design University is also very important AD client for Core77!!
However, do not lie to people about Umea Design Institute!!!
They buy adds, not opinions. Unless you can give some real reasons why its not good, I doubt very much people will listen to you. From the portfolios I’ve seen, they must be doing something right?
What is not good? You mentioned poor lecturers. Poor in what way? Not skilled?
Before I studied at Umea Design Institute, I had seen many articles on this school on famous design web sites, like core77. So, I thought Umea Design Institute could be the school, where I can learn so many things during my master study. When I was in Umea, I realised that Umea Design Institute has many relationship with media, so this school has used media for advetising Umea Design Institute. Also, some designers grasuating from that school have advertised this school indirectly here. Be careful!!! Umea design institute is the worst!!! Even in Sweden this school is rated on third stage.
