A world without traffic lights?

Here is the thing that gets me about people that think cars should or can disappear:

-construction
-shipping
-sales people with samples
-ambulences
-fire trucks
-police
-anybody else that needs to move stuff

This is why roads are necessary. This summer, I visited Italica, a Roman city in Spain that was built in 206BC. It is criss crossed with roads. People need to move stuff and we are either going to toss it on a horse, carriage or in a car or truck.

Sorry the roads are necessary or the vehicles are necessary? There are plenty of ways to ship things… already what about a tube system lots of places already use that? Samples… thats what an ipad is for haha. Maybe i’m being slightly futuristic but I think there are ways those things can adapt to a world without traffic. If new pathways are developed to move people and products I think there won’t be too many issues.

I don’t think we need to get rid of vehicles, we just need to lower our dependency on them. Also our city planning should make it easier to use public transportation, bikes… In the past we didn’t do this because we are a “automobile nation” but luckily I think cities are getting smarter these days. Even Dallas might build a bike lane somewhere, I think they have zero right now.
