2026 Beijing Auto Show

A few of the more interesting things in Electric’s recap:

A DIFA supercar concept. Chinese brands are now competing at every market segment, including supercars.

Geely’s autonomous robotaxi concept with a humanoid robot standing guard. The concept features “Drives To You” autonomous capability and a luxurious lounge-like interior.

The Audi E5 Sportback made its public debut at the show. Audi is betting big on China-specific EVs.

Volkswagen’s Jetta X electric SUV concept. VW is turning its budget brand electric to compete on price in China.

GAC Group’s concept electric pickup truck looks like it was designed for a sci-fi movie.

Buick’s futuristic concept EV. GM’s Buick brand is huge in China and going all-in on electric.

of course the Ford Bronco they get in China is an EV:

The MontX/CLOD electric motorcycle. Even the two-wheelers at this show are electric.

I think youve got the wrong difa supercar Michael. That looks to be the Lexus GTA, the difa one that I saw was green.

@holtag Ah yes, in fact on the stand it says LFA. Not sure what they did there in that article. Too bad, that Lexus is actually pretty nice for once.

Here is a link to that video from your screen cap

Audi E5 designer “hold my bier”

It seems like it was designed at the Chinese OEM maybe? But as someone who owned 3 Audis and doesn’t find anything in their current line attractive, I actually like the E5 better than what they currently sell in the US and Europe. Not sure if it aesthetically says Audi (other than literally saying A U D I on the front instead of having the 4 rings )

Yeah says more ‘quattro’ with a bit less silly crease-work. Why do so many new EVs seem like they must create a jarring rear pillar/hatch/graphic… really at odds with the rest of the form.

My first impression of the Audi was that it was way more interesting than their current models. I see the vintage Quattro in the front end too, which is nice.

I think that Chinese Audi would be the best looking car in their lineup if they sold it globally.

Man you must really be done with Audi.

The new LFA looks sick. Its pretty impressive (if it all works out) how the same chassis was designed to fit a ICE for the Toyota GR and electric motor for the LFA… just getting the CoG and driving position correct. Can’t wait to see these on the road. Or in the new Forza game.

Also rolled out, updates the Xiaomi SU7. The car the CEO of Ford imported to the US to drive
