It’s been interesting to see Hyundai and Kia really up their design game. The Kona was a bit homely when it launched, then got a pretty decent facelift as @Mr-914 pointed out awhile back. They just announced the second gen car and it’s a really interesting combination of recent Hyundai concept cars, the Ioniq 5, and the old Kona. It’s also 6" longer, 1" wider, with a 2" longer wheelbase… will be interesting to see it in person. It will still be about 11" shorter than the Ioniq 5.
The original seemed to occupy that ever more crowded liminal space between a hatchback and a crossover.
The new generation was designed as an EV first but there will be a hybrid version available. I’m guessing this is why the floor in the rear seat area is completely flat.
