individually

I imagine that you know this but it seems like the best thing an individual can do at this time is: - Avoid eating meat and especially beef (latest issue of E magazine) - Avoid air travel (carboncounter.org) - Live close enough to work so you do not have to drive or own an automobile (carbonfootprin...

Is ID right for you

Design is not a static thing. It bends to the values, goals, opinions, etc. of the designer. I think that is one of the things designers like, being able to bring some of their personal thoughts to a product or problem. So there is no generic reason why a person who wishes to focus on sustainable de...

macbookpro

I had Pro on mine for a while and I took it off because I was not using it. I also had a piece of FEA software that was particularly difficult on some of the older PCs in the studio and it ran well on the Mac. That is gone too and now the only 3D package I run is a light rendering package called con...

959

I believe that engineer Helmuth Bott "designed" the 959 but I think a lot of the credit has to go to Ferdinand "Butzi" Porsche (son of the founder) and Erwin Komenda.

Really interesting feature. Any idea who designed it? The graphics are well done too.

article

The article is no longer available. Thankfully. I am happy to admit my mistakes for others amusement and education but that one was particularly rough and I would certainly NOT like to relive it. So, please, lets keep that sobering misstep in the past. Maybe someone else would like to share a story ...

two-fer

There was also a time that I co-authored an article. Our goal was to talk about the un-varnished side of product development that never gets talked about. We thought we would be gritty and "real". In the end it turned out to be a critical review focused mostly on the client whom we had just finished...

Burton

Several years ago I got SUPER sucked into the Burton culture thing while doing a goggle project with them. So much so that when they told me that I should feel free to show up at meetings however I was most comfortable I decided I would wear a a dress shirt and tie. (It was a phase I was in, what ca...

how

I think that most people want to get involved and want to be part of the solution but are not really sure how. At this point no one can answer that definitively and most people who say they can want to sell you the solution. Although I know I could have a real impact by moving to within walking dist...

yo, yo, yo

I suggest that you save up some cash and bring Yo into your office for the day. There is no one better to communicate passion for innovative design and board skills while also inspiring business based creativity and strategic thinking. He has done it for my team (as a favor) and it was great.

phoenix

We usually send three or four people but we plan to skip it this year for several reasons. First, last years was a near total disappointment (I enjoyed seeing some friends and the free sketchbooks handed out upon registration). Two, although I have not seen anything on the actually presentations the...

talk to him

He is a really interesting person to talk to. Oddly, if you call the number to order one of his books he is sometimes the one that answers the phone (or at least he used to) and he is very generous and candid about answering a couple questions.
