medical

In my experience there are usually very sound reasons why medical products are single-use, reposable, or reusable. The scalpel is a good example of a product that was once nearly 100% reusable and is now more often disposable. It is a complicated analysis but when overall carbon foot-print is analyz...

GM

I think you are right CD, the new company would be more compelling. My issue with their products is not form or price. It is the quality. The Fusion is a good example. If you test drive that and then say a VW golf there is no comparison.

CCAD

By every metric I know of CCAD has a solid ID program with many of the same strengths and weaknesses as other design schools. It is probably slightly more rigorous than other programs with more emphasis on sketching and collaboration than some. It is probably less cerebral than RISD and not as well ...

radio

I have one that looks a bit like the original Bose wave radio. It does have one very cool feature though, it has two alarms with two separate switches.

A couple questions

Do you mean you think your opinions are more valid than everyone elses?
Do you think things would be better if you made all the decisions?
Do you always pick your designs?
Do you think your designs are the best?

All of the above?
What are we talking about here?

unpaid

We have had only had one unpaid intern in the 12 years since the firm was started and at the end of that summer we decided we had to pay her because she was so valuable. It probably worked out to WAY less than $20 and hour but it was a few thousand dollars. Had it not started off FREE I would not ha...

Kindle

The original design was more of a statement and more aesthetically desirable but also probably slightly harder to use (I have not used the new one so I am guessing). The new one looks like someone said "make it look like a giant white iphone".

I just read the document. This kind of stuff is one of the reasons why there is a lot of distrust in our business. I wonder, had they been doing the same assignment for themselves would they have done this same process?

generic

I like the way that the design looks in the photos, it is clean, fresh and simple. Unfortunately it looks like a store brand at point-of-sale. There is no punch to it and it just sits there kind of flat. I agree with Yo that it does not have to be folksy but this looks cheap.
