Re: Sketching Carbon Fiber.

if using Photoshop i would simple grab a 2d image of the carbon you want and then skew it to fit your perspective.

there are also custom brushes in sketchbook pro that simulate CF is you use that.

Re: Alias modeling question

So i think you need to narrow the comparison down a little - 1. Are the SUB-D models A-class surfaces or are they more form studies 2. Are the SUB-D models able to be handed off for B-side modeling? Also it is a matter of the right tool for the right task and who is using the tool (lets say all is e...

Re: Confidentiality broken?

the answer depends on the contract you signed - just because they show it does not give you the right to show it or even talk about it. is their a tie clause within the CDA. Rule of thumb - stop - think - ask ----- you need to ask them! If you where my client and it showed up on your sight without m...

Re: i'm probably doing it wrong...

So i do believe that proper courtesy is lost within linked in. I will never send a invite to someone with some type of "introduction" as to why i want to connect with them. In the same sense i do not simply click accept to those who send me invites, i will usually look at their profile and see / und...

Re: what's in an experienced designer's portfolio? School me

I really think you need to ask your self - 1. what have i been doing 2. what do i want to be doing 3. what does the job im applying for want.... And when someone wants a portfolio - dont be afraid to ask - what are you looking to see samples of - Like many on this forum - i have 20 + years of work -...

Re: what's in an experienced designer's portfolio? School me

Stuff that shows their experience ;) aha yea, i feel a lil' stupid asking but having not much exposure to how senior designers talk about their work in the context of seeking employment i'm just really unsure of what the expectation is... Just giving you a hard time - my wife only lets me have 1 sm...

Re: Contacted by Linkedin Recruiter

depends on the size of the company, who is the hiring manager - do they have ID people internal that could tell them about it. lots of reasons - i was contacted for my current role via linkedin for a opening that i never new about. also make sure you know what the role truly is, the number of recrui...

So mine is till the wood working and interior redesign. Over the winter i am going to design a deck for the house with a built in cooking area (grill sink, fridge, work surface) - the goal is to build it come spring thaw. (if i can afford my own design)

Living in cali

So i saw a posting for director of id for harbour freight (they do tools) the description sounds sweet and the product is something i would love to design. ..... but man i did a quick look at cost of living and housings and i would truly need to get more then 2x my current salary to have a chance of...

Re: Portfolio Critique Please

My concern would be the lack of information that relates to your exploration and refinement. The two pieces i looked at only had 1 page of sketches each. As a hiring manager i am less concerned bout the final product image, and judge your design skills around the process. if you dont show it you run...
