Re: Pininfarina Extra

yeah - the not a student - may have directly gotten your resume excluded. Some inter programs can be subsidized by the government through tax breaks, but a mandate is that they are required to be enrolled in school (work load vary;s) at the time of application.

Re: Suggestions on Improvement?

there are so many ways to do this - (mood swings dictate for me) in this one i did a all grey primary colour then did a white layer, then a shadow layer. I didn't like the all grey and envisioned your design with a overmolded handle - so i erased the base grey on the handle and filled it back in wit...

Re: Methods in Solidworks

the truth in my mind is that it all depends on who you are handing it off to and how well they can work with the models. I have had manufacturing engineers and design engineers LOVE the parent model when i showed them - i had others who threw hissy fits. down stream cad modeling is more about making...

Re: Methods in Solidworks

One method I've heard of but haven't tried myself, is start with an empty assembly file and start adding "virtual components". Later when the design is finalized you can convert the virtual components into actual files. This will save you from having a bunch of junk files scattered in the folder/va...

Re: Methods in Solidworks

So what you are referring to is called parent modeling...... (some engineers despise this ;) it basically mean you create all the parts in one file and each part is made as a individually body within that file (i.e do not merge solids) you can then save out the individual solid bodies to their own p...

Re: Suggestions on Improvement?

i will repeat what 250gb said - Now a great way to loosen up is to trace the drawing you have complete - with a focus on speed per overlay - don't worry about precision or getting the lines exact or even making each line the same. Through imperfection you will find perfection. - i am also a firm bel...

Re: Product Designer/Industrial Designer Portfolio example

My ask would be what are you trying to communicate with this portfolio and what are you using it for? it is all just final renderings and images - nothing showing the development / exploration work. If you are using this portfolio to get a job as a designer, then you must understand that most employ...

Re: 4 interviews, same feedback

Can i ask what companies you interviewed at or what industries they were in? Also what type of questions did they ask? i.e did they test you on your knowledge of designing for manufacturability - (some schools do not touch on this at all) Lack of experience can mean many things even for recent gradu...
