Re: Gmay3's Sketching Journey

I've been working on some analog sketching recently especially forcing myself to practice some marker work. This is the most I've done with them to date but I had a lot of fun experimenting with them. These sketches were replies to Weekly Design Challenges on Instagram @weeklydesignchallenge for a h...

Re: Sketch Critique & Improvement

Hey cdegisn really nice sketches, I especially liked the black and white earbud sketches and your treatment of shadows on these! Looks like you have great digital sketching style in both line weight and rendering. I'm looking forward to seeing your thread develop! Would you be up to try some analog ...

Analog Sketch Pin Board Build Ideas

I'm way late to the game on this one, but I recently started seeing how beneficial it is to pin or post sketches and ideas up on a wall to look at all at once to work on a design instead of looking through a stack of sketches and digital files. Currently, I'm taping separate sketches to the wall and...

Re: next piece of furniture

All completed with the mirror, as always there are a few thins i would do different, but i learned a lot which will be applied to the next piece. This is always how I feel after finishing a woodworking project too. It's good though, if there's something you want to do differently next time you know...

Re: Building volumes in sketching

I would totally recommend that you start sketching and posting your sketches here daily for feedback! It's a great way to focus your efforts and keep committed to learning and improving. Getting feedback really makes the difference with how fast you'll improve. If you want to have a guide to follow,...

Re: Gmay3's Sketching Journey

Thanks a lot Michael! I've been experimenting and working on learning digital sketching tools/workflow. Having the undo button is helping me learn by making mistakes and fixing them as best I can. It takes longer this way but it's helpful for learning rendering techniques and linework!

Re: Gmay3's Sketching Journey

Update on the VR Glove, for practice and to simplify the previous sketch, I used the Oculus design language for inspiration. I realized I was over complicating the portions that carry the cable over each finger and used an bicycle brake cable inspired idea with cloth line and flexible tubing stitche...

Re: Yo! 2016 sketch a day

I really like the car interior you sketched. You chose an interesting angle that shows off the critical parts of the interior without things like the seats or other parts getting in the way. Cool approach to this one!

Re: Gerry Mayer - Portfolio Feedback

Based on your feedback, I've updated to version 2 removing some of the extra images and a few that were a bit confusing. Also I added a call to action at the end. I'm hoping it's still not too long though it might be! Let me know if this version reads better or still could be improved. Thanks again!...

Re: Gerry Mayer - Portfolio Feedback

Hey Keno, thanks a lot for taking the time to review it and for the feedback! I'm going to be working on thinning it down. Although the personal web based portfolio idea could result in better showcase of a portfolio, at the moment I'm leaning towards more of a standard presentation site like Behanc...

Re: Gerry Mayer - Portfolio Feedback

Hi Sophie, thanks very much for taking a look and for your feedback! I will definitely thin it down and work on the small text on that first page. I'll also create call to action for the last page. You make a great point about the page layout and color breaks being difficult to determine where one p...

Re: Use of real logos in design language exercises

You guys got back to me at the perfect time to add a few extra layers in my sketch file to be able add or remove the logo on the concept easily. Thanks for that!

I guess I'll try it with the logo first and if there are any issues raised by doing it I can revert to the logo-free design.
