SubDFusion

For those of you with SubD experience (I know Cyberdemon has)

How about this (SubD modelling + live booleans) for ideating complex forms. Can anyone see this being of more use than Rhino in an ID firm - Pros/cons?

Re: Things to do in Bristol - May 2013

Ah, the Clifton Suspension Bridge ..definitely a must. I'll make sure not to have too many of those ciders the night before ;)

@Travissimo, I'm pretty sure you live in Bristol. If you're reading this, it'll be great to hear your suggestions too.

Things to do in Bristol - May 2013

I'll be in Bristol, UK, for a week from May 24th. Can anyone recommend things to do? I'm looking for design related things but I'm all ears for other good stuff too. Thanks

Re: The Fate of the 1HDC

but it is very constrained being buried in the forums. Do you mean in respect to only reaching Core77 members, or are you worried about poor accessibility? I often look over the game modelling contests on Polycount: http://www.polycount.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=47&order=desc They simply sticky ...

Re: The Fate of the 1HDC

That's a shame to hear. Although I haven't entered the 1HDC, I've enjoyed looking through the entries. Thanks for your input Jon. Something that's been on my mind for a while ..I've always thought the 1HDC was too short to get stuck into. What would interest me would be perhaps a 1 month challenge. ...

Re: Design Triathlon

Hey Craig, I'm liking the direction with the lasertag gun. I think it could have looked more minimal if the trigger guard 'flowed' into the body though, more like you had illustrated in the sketch. I was going to suggest taking a look over the super soaker 1 hour challenge, but it looks like most of...

Re: Things to do in London next week?

Cheers for the heads up Sam. No vodka martinis for me then.

Generatewhatsnext, unfortunately I'll be arriving after the bank holiday, so the carnival's a no go now.

Hey Travis. It's just off of Oxford Street: http://www.material-lab.co.uk

Re: Things to do in London next week?

Thanks for the Heatherwick recommendation. Think that'll have to be a definite. Yep, at The Design Museum, they've got an exhbition on about modern sporting design. There's a large walk-in material library that I've been meaning to visit. I'll have to look that up. And it'd be cool to visit a rapid ...

Re: Things to do in London next week?

Cheers 51. I'd glanced at that Bond exhibition before, could be interesting. Heatherwick's studio has an exhibition at the V&A, showcasing the last 20 years of their work, which looks good. Ah, I didn't realise the Notting Hill Carnival was on. I'll have to go for some curry goat :) Has anyone been ...

Things to do in London next week?

I'll be in London next week and I'm looking for design-related things to do. I've searched a few of the main 'what's on' sites, but does anybody have any recommendations or suggestions? Thanks.

Re: UK job sites without the agencies?

They're the ones I use. Except MocoLoco, I hadn't heard of that.

On Coroflot there are so many US Product Design vacancies, whereas a lot of the jobs advertised in the UK are for Design Engineers. I thought maybe (hopefully) I was missing a main advertising source.

UK job sites without the agencies?

Coroflot seems like such a valuable tool for job hunting in the US. But there are rarely ever any UK jobs on there. And the Product Design Forums' job section is heavily Chinese. Where's the best place to find job vacancies in the UK? I don't want an agency-based site - it makes it difficult when I ...

Re: Role of a Package Designer?

Thanks Boosted.

Do you think that throughout a career as a junior/middleweight packaging designer, I would likely design other products too, maybe exhibition stands, pop display etc? I wondered if lots of companies bunch these together and have the same designers working on them.
