College is not about seeing what you learned it is about seeing how much crap you can put up with. Wow I regret to hear that! College to me was the only time where I can be true to myself and make decisions that I believe in even though these decisions may not affect anything beyond school. When it...

Here's what I learnt from Media Studies 101 back in school: "The media confirms ideas, thus help unite the society." The Chinese communist government sure understands this very well. By supressing opposing media, people with similar ideas may start to doubt if their opinions are valid because there ...

Wow just look at how much you have progressed! I really enjoy those perspective exercise sketches. I was trained in similar ways and I still take time to set up my perspective frames for any sketch that isn't just for my to look at. The result is effective and efficient concept communication, and pe...

The bigger question is, why even dig this old thread up? Wait, I just realized that no one really got the point of this thread. So I took some time going through the projects in the website. While I wasn't very impressed by most of the "products", I was rather intrigued by the movies. I think for th...

Once you have a greencard, the only things that will be in between(or not) you and the job is your portfolio and how you fit. To add to d-flux's comment, well-known consultancies, for most of them, understand the importance of talent and will be likely to sponsor visa as long as they think you are t...

Revisiting your choices

I am lucky in the sense that I have a headache in choosing between two very different places to continue my career. So here's a question that I would like to throw out: Looking back, what are the most important things that you had, or you wish you had in the first 3 years of your ID career that will...

Sustainable mark making

Here's something that I have been thinking about for a while but still got nothing in my mind. "Truly sustainable mark-making" Mark-making, as in, writing, drawing, printing etc. Much of human's history is passed down through mark-making. Knowledge is being transfered through writing and printing. W...

Integrate? Why? The term "cultural integration" puzzles me. Since the beginning of time, it's always been "cultural domination" or invasion. I personally don't think it is possible for true mass cultural integration to take place. Even in the US where the society consists of multiple cultures, each ...

kneural, are you from Singapore or Malaysia? For foreign students, Toefl is required for all. You have to meet the school's minimum required score. As long as you pass, even by just one point, you are fine. What really decides your entrance is the standard of your portfolio. In many cases, it may al...

unless you have 3-5 years experience on a professional level, most companies won't hire you, unless they want another intern. Has anyone else found this to be true? feeling it hard right now It seems that experience(time wise) is the only thing they look.... first. Your resume(prior job content), t...

I apologize for derailing the thread. However I feel that if you want to explore what tree guilt is by just talking about trees and not consider the bigger picture(eg. consumerism), then I don't think you will ever get to the answer. I don't have anything else to add.

but about the beef, the resources that go into raising meat are pretty significant. with a tree, grown on a farm, the only resources you use is trucking that tree to a selling point, plus maybe watering it? maybe some chemicals to fertilize the soil/kill pests. think about what you need to raise a ...
