Re: Can you Define Design Thinking?

Design itself is already hard to define but to me Design Thinking is just a way to emphasize the difference between "Design"(noun) from "Design"(verb). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Design_thinking Design thinking is a process... based around the "building up" of ideas... has seven stages: define, re...

Re: Fun with corn starch, water and a speaker

Something you can do also with this is put some in a glass, show it really close to some one's face and then toss it to their face really fast. The thing will just stick to the glass without moving and you get to laugh at their reaction

Re: Design Ethics

I think those actions, even though they might be honorable, are ridiculous, for it's a waste of resources and effort that will not address the foundational root cause of the problem. It's like giving fish to an hungry man instead of teaching him how to fish. Objects such as those are a pure reflecti...

At the bottom of the pyramid lies the most potential value, not necessarily the most valuable, due to supply and demand. Abundance dilutes value, and uniqueness concentrates it. Values changes.

Re: C77 Board Traffic

i don't know if this is possible but why not invite some "design celebrities" and have a forum chat/interview with them? ask questions about some projects, how is the work environment, how was their first job, talk about a specific topic, share stories... that sort of thing since it's a forum answer...

Re: Design for the sake of design?

Resources are certainly abundant, but that does not make it's abuse righteous. The true cause of scarcity on the planet has less to do with the available resources, and more to do with our wasteful and exploitative modes of conduct. It's the future generations that will inherit all of this waste. Th...

Re: Design for the sake of design?

Any examples you can give on this "planned obsolescence" theory? Made to Break sounds a bit conspiracy theory like in line with the Zeitgeist content links in your sig what content exactly? consumer demand for product/functionality/price dictate the products that are produced and that the choices a...

Re: Design for the sake of design?

I guess things are a bit mixed up. As far as i know there are 4 types of planed obsolescence. Technical of functional - when new technology makes the old one unusable or when a mechanism is deliberately engineered to last a certain amount of time or uses. Systemic - alter the system do discourage th...

Re: Design for the sake of design?

The fashion industry is a perfect example of how the consumer drives these things. I guess it is as much driving as it is being driven. No one is to blame as i said, it's a consequence of the economic system. It needs to be this way. No one took note of the EV1 because GM didn't want to. Former EV1...
