Re: NEW KICKS :: latest purchase

Latest addition to my HELM collection (addiction). Pre-ordered these, should be on my feet in October. HELM Reid boots. HELM (based out of Austin, TX) just switched over their production to 100% hand crafted in the USA, they used to be handmade in Turkey. Panels are made from Cone Denim White Oak se...

I'm into some really eccentric things, but I am afraid of this thread.

Re: Shoe Design: Sketch to Prototype

Just wanted some feedback and some suggestions on how to spread my FundRazr, as I don't mean to come here advertising. Delete everything related to this project permanently. Restart. Put in a minimum of 400 hours into the project. Then show up here with something, anything , and we'll provide feedb...

Re: Shoe Design: Sketch to Prototype

Want to hear the single most 100% real, constructive and harsh critique of your life? Buckle up. Is this single sketch the only thing that you have to show and tempt people to donate? A) The sketch is bad. Very bad. This is the only thing you have to advertise your idea with (along with a poorly wor...

Re: What products do you think need improving?

I've been thinking about how to answer this for a while now. My answer is a bit of an extreme ideologist response, but I'm certain of it.

"What products do you think need improving?"

All of them.

Re: Increasing skill on Graphic design.

Also, another note, not really related, but sort of... I received an email last week from a woman named "Sara G". It was a legitimate email... however, she was asking me detailed questions about people who I never had met, asking how my parents Rob and Martha were (not my parents names), and how our...

Re: Increasing skill on Graphic design.

Its quite useful when a someone sends you an email you with a redundant question, using the exact keywords they could have used to find the answer, using more words/time/effort than necessary for doing a Google search, less thinking on their end, and now requiring unnecessary work on your behalf. "H...

Re: Opinions on name tags

Just had a thought, yours to edit, keep, or trash as you wish. Is there a bar? A packet pickup? Or a place for snacks? Some thing that will draw people to? A cookie tray? Something. Call them interaction points. Multiple would be better. In order to receive X item/to gain entrance to the event/to ga...

Re: Opinions on name tags

I personally detest name tags or badges or anything similar. Even when I'm required to wear them, I don't. At the Outdoor Retailer trade show, I kept mine off. Security asked me to put it on every time I walked by one of them. I understand that they keep track of who paid vs who snuck in this way, b...

Re: Producing Textile and Fabric Products

How much and what type of upfront tooling or setup charges can be expected when making a textile product such as a duffle-bag or backpack? Is the major cost of a textile product merely raw material and labor? 1. Depends 2. Depends Further explained... if you're making a simple 3 or 5 fabric panel d...

Hey Lauren,

Shoot me an email, let's chat. I'm certain I can send a lot of work your way, depending on your availability, skill, and experience.

Take care,

Re: IDSA Awards vs Core77

In a way, I think it is more meaningful as a designer. Most of the jurors are not uber stars, but other practicing designers. I think another way to put it, is that the people judging the Core77 Design Awards are my professional peers. Professionals *actually* working within the industry whom I per...
