Re: a question for Design Gatekeepers

I would also say no, although I would be happy to be proven wrong. I suspect that many of these designers are doing other (related) things to generate cash, such as interior design, cabinetry, freelance jobs, day jobs, etc.

Re: Plastic Hinge Material?

Thanks everyone. I should probably mention that this is for a prototype I'm building myself. I've researched polycarbonate a bit and it seems like it could be a good an option. It can be cold bent at thicknesses <.1", and methylene chloride will create a molecular bond. I might be able to do away wi...

Re: Plastic Hinge Material?

Hi Lew,

90 degrees will cover it, although the angles will likely be a little less. I would like for the material to have little or no memory, and no radius at the bend. Kind of like packing tape...hmmm, maybe some kind of vinyl? Just need to get a good bond...

Thanks!

Plastic Hinge Material?

Hi, Wondering if anyone can point me in a good direction... I'm looking for a thin plastic (maybe a film?) that I can use as a hinge to join two pieces of 1/8" acrylic. This hinge needs to bend in order to create the shape I'm making , but it will not be used as a hinge per se (ie, no repeated bendi...

Re: how do you spec in china?

Ditto to the multi-page package as done by Richard and Taylor. But I use Corel to create it because it supports multi page documents (although the latest Illustrator might finally do that, no?). And I also then convert it to a "locked" PDF. Sometimes I include an Excel doc, but only for categorizing...

Re: Website builder for online store

Funny, I have just been researching this. I built my site with Wix because it has the potential for ecommerce. But I've been considering switching to Squarespace, which looks easier, better, and also uses HTML instead of Flash. However, they don't (yet) offer ecommerce. They tell you how to use a th...

Re: seeking furniture design prgrm w/the art school 'experie

RISD for sure, although as Yo mentioned, it is out of your budget. :-( But I think you would find many of the experiences there that you are looking for - wide student age range, many different departments/disciplines, opportunity to work in many different materials - definitely an art school experi...
