Best modern looking font for building numbers

Hi,

Looking for suggestions on a good, modern looking type font to use for address numbers that go on our design studio building's new awning. Something sophisticated and modern...

Free Video Editing Software?

Anyone know of a good free video editiing software for Windows that I can download to make a kickstarter type demo/ad video?
I really just need to be able to superimpose text/captions, asdd some stock music, edit snippets and make transitions between frames.

Re: Solid work or alias

If you only could choose one and do more "product design" than iterating organic shapes like cars then learn and use SolidWorks. There are simply more disciplines and jobs using SW than there are Alias and it would be a valuable resume skill to list cause more types of industries identify with it.

Re: how do you find freelance ID jobs?

Basically advertise and promote your services every time you have a chance. I met eventual clients at picnics, dinners, business events, conventions, on the airplanes, etc. Always ready with cards and some conveient, non fussy way to show some portfolio.

Re: Post project support

I simply put it in a miscellaneous/ongoing support phase after the regular phases and say it's as needed/per incident using hours X hourly rate.

Re: Design contests

This is another case of not involing a designer from the very start of the product development process. It usually neds up being a case of polishing a turd and using design as an illfitting afterthought. Having it tooled already means it is already at the point of no return. Any new design would lik...

Re: Design contests

Creating a great, manufacturable design is often many hours and months of hard work that is very involved. I've seen many peopel who try to "cheap it" on teh design and end up spending more fixing things downstream. I do think there is a bit of "You get what you pay for." If it's something that is m...

Re: San Jose State University -- Think it's a good choice?

I'd go to a student mixer and look.

Anyone know when the next Bay Area student mixer is going to be? Most school shave a show and sometimes all the schools have a consolidated show where they all show at the same time and place.

Re: San Jose State University -- Think it's a good choice?

SJSU is probably the best bang for the buck in the Bay Area in terms of ID schools. They have a lot of alumni in the industry and many former SJSU IDers have started design firms or are running corporate ID departments. I'd go to a student mixer and talk to people and compare. I would rank Bay Area ...

Re: Mechanical Engineer to Industrial Designer...Is it easy?

Ideation sketching like Leonardo Da Vinci sketchbooks impress. You can train anyone to do CAD...You'd impress more people in the know with strong ideation sketching, the more the better.
