Re: Looking to improve

It's been a while. Took a longer break from here than planned. Car sketch to get the ball rolling. Kinda rough. Back wheel is out. car1.jpg I plan to get started in some digital work to polish my future sketches. Any recommendations? Wondering whether to dive in on a 13 inch cintiq or take smaller s...

Re: Looking to improve

Probably not going to be posting much for the next month or 2 as my schedule has become really tight due to work commitments as well as other things. Hopefully be back up and running sooner rather than later! Still gonna try and sketch where time permits.

Happy new year btw. :)

Re: Suggestions on Improvement?

I am trying to get a better handle on my sketching for strengthening my portfolio. Could anyone give me some suggestions on ways to improve? I have taken traditional drawing classes but am entirely self taught when it comes to using pens and the industrial design product sketching style. So far I'v...

Re: Looking to improve

Probably not going to be posting much now until after Christmas. Still sketching but I have a family portrait to complete before the 24th so that is going to take up most of my free time no doubt. Merry Christmas all :)

Re: Looking to improve

Not too pleased with the outcome on this but spent had too many attempts at this one now. Trying to draw all the ellipses without screwing up too much is definitely a challenge... It seems with me the more I want it to be right the worse the outcome hehe... Anyways I think its time for another topic...

Re: Yo! 2017 sketch a day

the bluntness of the question aside, it isn't one that strikes me as rude or warped (the last part about self-publishing is right on the edge though!)...basically asking what is the purpose & who is the intended audience isn't so out of bounds...photographers, painters, writers, all turn similar 36...

Re: Yo! 2017 sketch a day

starting to think more about the book layout, title, and dust jacket. I'm curious to know why you think your sketch-a-day work is of the quality to deserve a book -- what has really has improved from January 1 until today to show a progression in quality or technique? I appreciate the willpower to ...

Re: Looking to improve

I love seeing so much improvement in your work. Definitely photoshop photos of your sketch pages. You can take the saturation down to 0 as well which will help when using levels. I like what you did there.. I guess mine was very 90's lol. I noticed you omitted the cup dispenser.. Any reason or just...

Re: Expected portfolio standard for entry level position

Go to behance, look at the best rated/most viewed portfolios - that is usually the standard to aspire to. A solid mix of everything and being really good at at least one thing. No rocket science, really. But the metrics for getting a job at a ID firm are not very representative in my opinion. They ...

Re: Expected portfolio standard for entry level position

That's really hard to say. Sometimes the company doesn't have a lot of experience with design or designers and the standards can be surprisingly low. Sometimes they want you to be "rockstars" or "design ninjas" and ask you to be their graphic designer, their logo designer, their website designer an...

Expected portfolio standard for entry level position

Hi, I'm wondering if there are any examples of the level of portfolio an employer would expect to see from applicants applying for an entry level position.. I will eventually be looking to apply for corporate ID entry level/junior positions and think it would be helpful if I had some idea of what le...
