Thank you FH13. I'm excited to get started on it and hopefully taking on board some of their knowledge!

Re: Tent Prototype

Thank you so much for the detailed reply! Ill definitely read up a bit more on form finding. That sounds like a great job, I also love hearing about all the different constraints and considerations that go into products that people pass by every day and don't even think about the work that goes into...

Re: Tent Prototype

Thank you both for your input. My plan was to get the flat templates in a cheap material and then work with some to create a net from the final material after that. I completely get what you are saying about the different material properties and the impact they could have on the design. I'll see how...

Tent Prototype

Hello everyone, I am looking to create a prototype of a tent like product and was wondering if anyone on here had experience in creating one? I have the frame made up from existing tent poles and have butchered an existing tent to fit the frame but I would really like to get working on a more refine...

Re: Ambiguous ads

I've seen a few job listing like this in the past but never quite as vague! It's really annoying, I can understand that a recruiter doesn't want you to apply directly and cut them out, but how can you be expected to tailor your portfolio/covering letter to suit the company if you know nothing about ...

Re: Happy Holidays

Thanks Michael, and Happy Holidays to you and your family!

I'm imagining the little holes on it's hands being points of suction so it crawls along the walls like a Christmas Spiderman Robot. It would be terrifying but I like it!

Re: Sharing your salary with coworkers

All fair points above. To be honest, I've never had a problem with it in previous roles because I felt that I was rewarded accordingly with the effort I put in and the quality of work that I produced so I guess that might have skewed my views. I wouldn't ever use someone else's salary to justify my ...

Re: Sharing your salary with coworkers

At a company that I worked at some of my colleagues and I disclosed how much we were earning to each other but we were told afterward that we shouldn't talk about it as people were using it to justify pay rises to keep them in line with their equals. Needless to say nobody received a pay rise becaus...

Re: Contract for freelance work

Wow, thank you Michael for the great reply and for coming back so quickly. I'm really excited to get started but I wanted to ensure I took a step back and do things properly so I'll be sure to get something in place before I start any work. I've had advice from someone to 'not bother and just get on...

Contract for freelance work

Hello everyone, I was hoping to get a bit of help from anyone with a bit of experience in this field. I've just secured (verbally) my first big freelance client and before I take this on full time I'd like to get them to sign a contract for the work they have briefed me on. Firstly, am I (I presume ...

Re: The Concept of Enough

It was a good watch, thank you for sharing! Couldn't agree more with the comments above.
It's also particularly relevant mindset at this time of year while we get bombarded by an increase in advertising telling us what we 'need'.

Re: Wooda competition

It sounds interesting. I always wonder what happens to the designs that are sent in but don't win the competition, it would be pretty rough to see a slightly adapted version come out at a later date with no recognition. Not that I'm saying these guys would do that, just a general thought I have abou...
