Re: modeling the rear surface of iMac

I have had surprisingly good results using the surface fill tool and let SW do a lot of the calculation. Just make sure your profile is CC and you have good guide curves to give you the pillow. But of course, if you are beholden to tight components constraints, then yes, you'll probably will need a ...

Re: avoid draft angle

is there any tips on how to avoid draft angle? Im trying to design a 1 part tube shape product around 30cm height and I want to avoid draft angle as much as I can. How about extrusion? What's the material you are looking at? You can get zero draft with parting lines but those would be visible and y...

Re: Kanye West Plagiarizes Industrial Designer's Work

To borrow one of the Verge's commenter's comment: You wasted valuable electrons publishing crap like this. Kanye West is not news. Nothing tied to West is news. I wasted .5 valuable calories typing out this response. I think this absolutely relevant to discuss. We publish our work online all the ti...

Re: Kanye West Plagiarizes Industrial Designer's Work

I am going to hold my tongue and leave politics out of these forums. I will say that I would have assumed that a creative like Kanye would have a bit more respect for the work, time, resources, talent and effort that goes into producing original work. And not just pull somebody's student thesis off ...

LOVE the CMF decisions on the coral-ish colorway. Super sweet.

How do they run?

Re: Watch watch

Anyway, I actually pulled the trigger on this guy. Good to know that it won't be the watch that's holding me back from going to space ;) Congrats! That is awesome. With that leather band? Thanks! Pretty excited. Yeah, with the leather strap. I'll have to see if it's too dressy for me in the long ru...

Re: Watch watch

Now I am lusting over this re-edition of Wally Shirra's Speedmaster, worn in '62. He used his privately purchased Speedmaster in his missions before Omega even got involved with the space program and it held up perfectly. Also it's 39.7 instead of a 42 That's really cool. The Speedy's have gotten o...

Re: Watch watch

I've been curious about designers' choices these days as well. The Seiko diver automatic was my main watch for 15+ years. Been through 3 rubber bands and a stainless band. Simple, functional, durable, no-fuss automatic movement, and it's been fishing and kayaking in many waters throughout the mid-w...

Re: Watch watch

Loving all those watches Michael! The retro vibe of the Nixon is awesome. Braun in an interesting one. I bought the ceramic Braun a few years ago more as a design reference but actually end up now wearing it a lot. The texture, feel and color is just so interesting. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/fe...

When I tried, this was the watch I had. 1930s/40s Breitling.
Gorgeous! Couldn't bring myself to go super vintage but if you do, this is a great choice.

Watch watch

Hi all, We have threads for sneakers, cars and bikes. Just wondering if we could start one for watches. I have never been much of a watch guy but I got engaged recently and I thought it might be time to mark the foundation of a family with a true family heirloom. Plus maybe a little gift to myself f...

Came across this video from Arc'teryx showing their design center (or centre for the Canadians). It's no wonder why their products are so great (and Nice share! I am always impressed with Arc'teryx. Especially their Vailance line. I picked up a super light weight Vailance rain/wind coat at a crazy ...

Re: Design places to visit in Europe

If you are already in London, check out Kew Gardens, walk around Shoreditch , walk Bermondsey Road (there are a couple of good coffee shops there like Fuck Coffee, as well as the Rope Walk street food area) in Southwark and see the White Cube Gallery while you are over there as well as The Shard, a...

Re: Design places to visit in Europe

I would check out a lot of the more historic sights actually and maybe focus more on art and architecture than design in Western Europe. Such as spots around France or northern Italy. For design specific destinations, swing by Switzerland and check out the Vitra Museum near Basel and maybe some of t...
