Re: Google Self-Driving Car

Long time no post...but I had to react to the google car. I love it...the idea. Not really how it looks. And I agree they are missing out on some opportunities. No more sterring wheel opens up a whole lot of opportunities. The most obvious one is putting the door in front just like on the BMW ISETTA...

Re: Dyson Airblade Tap - Discuss!

It's 2000€!!!!!! &It would freak my mom out. People will still touch the 'handles' so no germ transfer is BS. If he really wanted to re-invent hand-washing after a toilet visit. Why not redesign the doorhandle? So it automatically washes/disinfects your hand while leaving the toilet?...no more cheat...

Re: What's up with Wacom INKLING ?

... except the system requirements on Amazon (and on the package itself) are wrong. It is advertised as working in OSX 10.4 and higher on Macs, but it actually requires an Intel machine. I have OS 10.5.8 so according to their advertised specs I should be able to use it, but I have a PowerPC Mac G5,...

Re: To those who have laid there eyes upon on a dyson before

I noticed the flowlines and they did bother me. But I bought it because it is supposed to be the best vacuum_cleaner. My mom has a generation one dyson. And it still works very well. While mine from the 4th or 3th generation stopped functioning well after a couple of weeks :x They over-engineered it...

Re: I need some ideas... - gadget brainstorming.

Ok last post was maybe a bit harsh ;) But still: + You gave yourself a week an yet I haven't seen one sketch or idea (and this tread is already a week old) + No I do not dislike smartphones. But as previously mentioned. Everybody wants to design them these days while there are no new ideas being sho...

Re: I need some ideas... - gadget brainstorming.

Quit your whining and design something useful...(read= something that is not a smartphone) And yes I hope you fail a lot of times I fail 99% of the times and it gives me great insights. Come back if you have something to post (a napkin sketch, insight or whatever) stop defending yourself and start b...

Re: I need some ideas... - gadget brainstorming.

Start with a real problem and not just: "ooH i like smartphones they are sexy and hot. And when I design one everybody will know I'm a real designer. And then Apple will have to pay lots of $$$ just so I would work for them" BTW this applies to all -especially cars and furniture ;) Start with someth...

Re: Industrial Design in the Food Industry

Check out these guys: http://www.sensefortaste.com/ They are approaching food in a very analytical scientific way. They analyses tastes and figure out which ones would fit with each other. It's called food-pairing and it's a part of molecular gastronomy. They have some very weird but nice combinatio...

Re: When to move on?

When an opportunity rises you should take it. I don't know how young/old you are but you never to old to learn. Curiosity is what should drive you. Do something new. Challenge yourself. It's easy to do the same thing over and over again...but it's also mindlessly boring ;) Take the leap ...if you do...

Off course you can...i did for about 2 years untill the colors on the monitor got screwed and all I had was a real expensive tablet ;)

Now I'm working on a MAC 24Oled and a widescreenA4 Wacom & I'll never buy another cintiq's again.

Re: Am I on the right track?

You would definitely need some training. And as for as spotting a problem. You spotted one. And you got a solution. Albeit just one. A designer should be able to think of +100 solutions for one problem. So think up some more solutions to the problem. (& I'm sure there's a simpler solution.). So sket...
