Re: Looking For Feedback

Also, if you're hoping to get feedback on your PD1 or design projects in the future I'd make a new thread on the Projects tab and include your briefs and background information to the project.

Keep up the good work!
Aaron

Re: Looking For Feedback

Big step Sumi! My personal favorite are the (oven?) knobs. A lot of good detail to capture and your quick material indication is almost there! Just my opinion, but on the first 6 or so pages watch out on how much you vary your lineweight. Specifically on the perfume bottles there's so much tapering ...

Re: Graduate looking for an Internship

Hey Nyle_Miura, In my experience, larger corporations seek interns that are still in school, while smaller consultancies don't pay much attention. If anything, I'd say smaller consultancies prefer someone who has graduated or is close to graduation so that they can train you then hire you. Nike is o...

Re: Looking For Feedback

Hey Sumi, Your sketches are really improving, keep up the hard work! The very last page is getting to a nice point, your line-weight is consistent and is starting to pop your sketches off the page. A few things to look out for: 1. Hierarchy: This can be done in a few ways, Size, Detail, Color, etc. ...

Re: Looking For A Cheaper Alternative

Hey Swordguy, I'm not sure of your specific situation or skillset, or what you're looking to do in the field of ID, however, the Academy of Art in San Francisco may be an option to consider. It's generally cheaper than Art Center, but living in San Francisco will cost as much as tuition unless you'r...

Re: Recent Grad Who Would LOVE Some Portfolio Feedback

Hey Nina, Welcome to the boards, I hope you get a lot of good feedback here! 1. You may want to edit your link to the website, it seems to be incorrect :) 2. Where are you sending your portfolio to? What are your goal companies/industries to work for? This will help us give you more direct feedback!...

Re: Looking For Feedback

Hey Sumi, Glad to see you posting on here, I remember on my post Quinn H. said he always improved the most by sketching during the breaks and intersessions between semesters and I felt the same way! You're showing a lot of potential and improvement already in a short time! I think what's going to ta...

Re: The Quest for a 2nd Bachelor's in ID

Why is it people get so fucking defensive of their 4-year program? The first year at any university is bullshit humanities, science, foreign language, math, English, etc courses. They have zero to do with design. The second year is fundamentals. The last two years are where the real education begin...

Re: The Quest for a 2nd Bachelor's in ID

If you can complete your prerequisites in one year, a master's in two, why would anyone spend an extra year to get a bachelor's? You save a year on tuition and I'm guessing grants and other financing is better if your second degree is a master's and not a bachelor's. On paper that sounds great, but...

Re: Uploading good quality jpeg files on behance

You are probably exporting JPG's @ 300 DPI which is leading to too high of a resolution for screen/web usage. If you are trying to upload a screen resolution file, 1600px is probably the max width you want to use. Since Indesign has limited options when you export try starting at: Quality: Max, For...

Re: Aaron Powers Portfolio Thread

Hey all, I'm finishing up my last semester of ID school, it's been a wild ride! This past year I was interning and then hired as a full time designer at a consultancy in the bay area while also going to school full time. After nearly a year of working in a consultancy, I felt that I needed a change ...

Re: Sketch-Fu: Men's Footwear

Always dug your style experimentation Plinus! And as always, killer graphic breakups Michael! I've been busy wrapping up my last semester and searching for a technical footwear design gig! Here's a few renders from a short 4 week personal project, I wanted to design a baseball cleat for infielders t...

Re: Newly Released Work (All Product Types)

This is the first product I worked on while interning at Enlisted Design, and first product to come out that I've done.

A lot of challenges with this one, mostly because there's a butt-load of increased functionality compared to the previous generation. But here it is, the Netgear Arlo Pro.

Re: How To Get That Edge Over Your Classroom Competitors

Some really good discussion in here. I'm graduating this December, I can't wait! The first 2-3 years of ID school I was really stubborn. My life was to come into school at 8 AM and leave at 2AM, I was eating Subway 1-2 times a day, and pulling all-nighters at-least 1-2 times a week. I was (and still...
