Re: "Green design is just a fashion"

CO2 is just one of them, you have a bunch of other gases responsible for climate change like Methane that are way worse than CO2. I understand. And as a matter of fact, not only does the biodegrading process create CO2, it creates methane too. Composting biodegradable materials hastens release to t...

Re: "Green design is just a fashion"

bioplastics and biodegradable additives I have a question about this. Why is this a good thing? The issue is carbon. We extract it from the ground in the form of oil, we burn it, it releases to the atmosphere as CO2. But if we take the oil and convert it to plastic, we have very effectively sequest...

Re: Best Schools for Master degree (Europe & US)

You are missing some, I think

FH Joanneum, Graz
Hochschule für Gestaltung Schwäbisch Gmünd
Folkwang, Essen (Half of my colleagues come from there)

There are also good schools in Aarhus, Copenhagen, Lund, Gotheburg, Stockholm, pretty much all the Nordics.

Pfozheim is good for transportation design.

Re: Design in China

I've been living in China for more than 2 years now and I think design is picking up. It is still a developing country, so you can find a bit of everything. For example, housing and architecture can go from super high quality, well-designed housing or public spaces to the shitty, poorly design ones....

Re: Aaron Powers Portfolio Thread

Hey Aaron, My 2 cents! Great visualization, similar to what Matt Choto had on his portfolio. In terms of design skills I'd say you definitely are there. I'm not very familiar with the footwear industry, but it seems you have the conceptual skills. It'd be nice to see a raw prototype, shouldn't be to...

Makerbot failing to prepare object

Hi guys, I would like to know if anyone has had this problem before and if there's anyway to fix it. There is a message popping up saying ''Failed to prepare object file for printing''. I've been having this problem today with our Makerbot Desktop software. We have the latest Windows version install...

Re: 2016 Portfolio...almost

Nice portfolio David! Personally I think it's a too long, maybe at some point whoever is looking at it would scroll down faster. I guess you will be sending over a shorter PDF version when you start applying. There are 2 things I believe would help making the projects more eye catchy: - Refined 2D r...

Re: NEW KICKS :: latest purchase

I bought myself a pair of Nike free 4.0 a few weeks ago. I'm really happy with them, first flyknits I have and they are super comfortable. However, I expected them to be lighter (I have a pair of DC Shoes Heathrow which are lighter) and I don't like the huge logo. I believe they'd look better with a...

A Bac Mono. Driving one of these must be like playing a video game! Would you want one of these or an Ariel Atom? What about the Nomad? This thing must be so much fun to drive on and off road! http://www.topgear.com/sites/default/files/styles/16x9_1280w/public/images/gallery-migration/2015-05/459B8...

Re: ID sketching frustrations.

I've always been able to sketch pretty freely, but my car sketches were lazy. I made a commitment to get really good at car sketching over the last 12 months. I think the differences have been pretty dramatic.... but it takes commitment. In the past I'd just do a car doodle and be happy with it. No...

Nice videos Mike, thanks for sharing! Nice beats too! I really feel like sketching after watching a couple of those! I'd love to see some perspectives of sneakers :D The bubble looks cool, I usually warm up with some 3/4 car/truck, just to play around with some ellipses and lines before getting my h...

Re: What should Apple do with all that cash?

Nuclear fusion is the only technology that has the potential to fundamentally change how we live. Unfortunately, it appears no closer than ever to reality. According to the latest developments that's not the case. I read this article from a Spanish science blog a few months ago comparing the techno...

Re: Things to do/eat in Shanghai

Hi Bepster, Bunch of things to do around here. There are some cool restaurants with food from regions of China that aren't very common abroad. I live in the Jing'an district, so most places I know are around here. French concession is a bit more fancy, but also slightly more expensive. Check out Sma...
