Re: The Feel Good 3D Printer Story of the Year

This story was very touching as well. Love that 3D hp 901 cartridge from InkJetSuperStore.com printers are able to do things like this. WoZ2BgPVtA0 http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-57487822-1/3d-printed-magic-arms-give-little-girl-new-reach/ ^ It was really an interesting story. I never thought ...

Re: VW CEO checking out New Hyundai I30

Very cool find. I like this for 2 reasons: 1) It proves product is still king. A brand struggling to make a case for itself can become a class leader in relatively short period of time based on a pretty new product line. Hyundai has been steadily improving for more than a decade, but people really ...

Re: Vorax Rossin-Bertin new brazilian car

Is there really a market in Brazil for this vehicle? Styling of auto parts with discount is definitely overworked, and not sure about the front fascia. Sort of reminds me of a monkfish... ^ That's a good one! Bump. I saw one recently and I have to say that it is indeed over-styled. At first g...

Re: Door handles

I can think of the worst and the best I've had; My parts for Fiat X1/9 (a '76 I had from 1987 to 1989) had door handles like the one wallflower posted - mechanically horrible, ergonomically inadequate, inexact in its actuation - sometimes it unlatched the door halfway pulled, other times it unlatch...

Re: Door handles

I was thinking about door handles that I like the other day. Curious what others think: Miata (think they copied from Fiat/Alfa design if memory serves) http://images.rodandcustommagazine.com/howto/p121620_image_large.jpg Well that was new to me. Now that I think of it, the door handle seems to be ...

Re: How to get into Truck design?

GM, Ford and Chrysler sent me huge catalogs hubcentric wheel spacers for trucks describing their design studios in '96 when I was first thinking about my Uni major. Perhaps they send pamphlets now, but I'm sure they send something. Yeah or they could be sending it electronically like in a PDF file....

Re: How to get into Truck design?

Skateboard trucks or pick-up trucks? If you write to any of the big auto companies about positions in design, they will send you information on what they look for and where you can get the skills. That's the best way to do it but I don't think they just randomly accept or replies to emails, not sur...

Re: Detroit show 2012

I hate cabs but the OEM Mercedes parts b class (or r) I think us the only one that is worth even looking at if I were looking at a van. Everything else looks like a van. This gm one looks like a bad sketch. R ^ I do agree with you on that. I saw it on pictures and that is the only thing that I like...

Re: Car "Design" of a different sort!

...or I guess this would this be classified as "modding"? Spotted this article the other day: http://www.weheart.co.uk/2012/02/27/jay-z-kanyes-otis-maybach/ <-- more pics in link. The modified Maybach used in the Kanye West & Jay Z music video for Otis is going up for auction soon, for charity. Any...

If only I could convert some car accessories shop space in the new loft into garage....don't think a car would fit through the front door but got the space inside! Re: Brand failures

What I took from the article is that lowering costs to raise margin is only a short-term gain. In the case of Dell, it can be a very dangerous strategy. That is not the case for Apple. Yes they have manufacturing in SE Asia to lower costs, but their overall strategy is to raise value to raise margi...

Re: Bentley EXP 9 F: Really that bad?

Not a fan at all, there's so much going on in the front back side and rear it's near impossible to look at. Everything is dialed up to 11 and screaming at you. Even for a concept car, I think there is a level of refinement that's missing. The headlights /fog light ratio seems off, and the proportio...

Thread bump. But I do remember seeing such tail lights. My first accident was when I hit a car in a traffic jam. Oh well.

Re: Chrysler 300 - new classic or yesterdays trash?

That technique of the seemingly floating elements was used in the 60s in American sedans. I think it has a nice effect. When I was a kid the man across the street from our house bought one of these; a 1962 Chyrsler Imperial Crown . I remember even as an eleven year old that it seemed somehow dis-jo...
