Re: Is it me or is it the job?

My vote: "It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap We gotta get out while we're young" Sounds like you are mature, have a good head on your shoulders and are keeping perspective despite being young and in a challenging situation. "The highway's jammed with broken heroes" "guard your dreams and visions"...

Re: Book Recommendations for Product Development Process

Another standard and useful textbook on this topic would be: Product Design And Development, by Ulrich/Eppinger Not the funnest or most up-to-date read, but a thorough and useful reference nonetheless. As for the Roger Martin book: – It is not going to focus on the 'product development process', if ...

Re: BMW i8

There are 2 small doors – one in the front and one in the rear – so I believe the one up front is for electric, and the rear is for petrol. The original sketches and early concept car looked more cab forward, shorter overhangs, nose pushed down a bit more, more unique proportions in side view. This ...

Re: Volvo Concepts 2013

agreed. nice, but not scandinavian. in fact, in the rear 3/4 and side views the proportions look more like an american muscle car - albeit with far more precision and refined detailing. but what do you expect from a one-off concept car? and for a "concept", it is not very forward-looking. should be ...

Re: Art Center and Clemson release Mazda Concept, Thoughts?

Sad. If ACCD Transportation Design is no longer visually or sculpturally superior, then what does the programme have to offer? Beyond the aforementioned fact that it is not a forward-looking design at all, a big part of the problem are the wheels and the stance. Students are always sketching with im...

Re: Can you help me with my master thesis?

Just took your survey. Could be an interesting project! I hope you are gathering the available country of origin and tourism branding information that is already out there. Porter's Global Competitiveness Report, FutureBrand's Country Brand Index, Anholt's Nation Brands Index, etc. • I expect your p...

Re: Is being a car designer a "realistic" goal?

You are asking strangers to foretell the future. It is a difficult industry to get work in, and I suspect that cars as we know them now are not exactly the long-term future. Unfortunately, too many young people and educational programs are still preparing for yesterday's vision of transportation. Ha...

Re: The Design Strategist

You are like... A man who works at a factory producing finished widgets ready to be sold and used. One day, he meets a "designer" who says he created the widget. The factory man scoffs and says, "No, I create the widget. I have the evidence at the factory. Show me YOUR evidence." When the designer c...

If googling your way through some articles has not gotten you what you want yet, here are a few favourites covering various brand topics: More academic reads: • The New Strategic Brand Management, J.N. "Lottery ticket purchase cortex" = Nice one! Not to undermine the point of the thread, but I wonder if one is better off securing funding and handling up-front business issues in the West, then coming to East Asia/China strictly for final manufacturing/assembly and just paying them as a vendor? I un...

A Chinese client refusing to pay for work?? I'm shocked! (insert "sarcasti-quotes")

Ha ha, could be any number of reasons behind their desire for non-payment. The first of which: THEY ARE CHINESE!

Re: VW CEO checking out New Hyundai I30

51: Regarding: "I30 was designed and engineering in Germany", "not a Korean Engineering Vs German Engineering story" I'm sure there are some good press releases from Hyundai's PR department to support your view, and I'm sure there are some proud designers and engineers in Europe who will take as muc...
