Re: Career advice needed

I have, thanks! I do some of that as well - mostly for games. I capital L Love Paul Pepera's work with those fabric-covered spaceships. You know he uses a 3D fashion design program called Marvelous Designer to do them? You lay out fabric cut patterns and a physics engine stitches the seams together ...

Re: Career advice needed

Thanks for the feedback guys. A lot of it I think I already knew, but it helps to hear it from others. In response to yo 's reply specifically...I actually really like teaching. I think it's fun and I have a lot to offer, especially in the realm of CAD. If I could get a part time job teaching I thin...

Re: Feedback on Minor Studio Project

Looks great but that render does not follow the aesthetic established by your sketching technique. Bright blue on blue neon cheapens the whole look for me. The way you draw it makes me think of spaceships, and that big one on the right makes me think of the inside of a pit stop by the side of a race...

Career advice needed

Hi everyone, So I've got a career problem here. I went to school to be an Industrial Designer. I got about a year's worth of experience as a Junior Designer, but left because of the location of the job. Two years later I have a position now as a Design Engineer at a lighting company. But I find engi...

Re: Portfolio Review (Please!)

I won't restart my entire page from scratch, considering how crucial parts of the current site are to my personal brand. The truth is, at this point I've done more solid engineering work than I have design work. A lot of my design work has been wrapped up in entrepreneurship. That's why, to me perso...

Re: Portfolio Review (Please!)

Thanks for the feedback guys, really useful. I'll definitely work on the interface and the narration of the projects more. As for the choppiness, I debated awhile for that. Since the portfolio is broken up by skills instead of projects, I put the renders under the computer graphics section - even if...

Portfolio Review (Please!)

Hi everyone. I've revamped my portfolio to target it more in the direction of freelance clients. I've also included a lot more of my work and re-organized existing projects to be more brief. I still have a little ways to go, but I was hoping to get some feedback on what I have so far, especially the...

How Accurate is 3D Software? (Blog Post)

Hey everyone...I wrote a new article explaining accuracy and precision in terms of CAD. I feel like this would be useful to newcomers to the space because it pulls them away from the "How accurate is it?" question that I hear a lot and into a more meaningful line of questioning. I also talked a bit ...

Re: InvertedVantage's Sketch a Day Thread

Hey yo,

Thanks. I am looking for critique. I know I'm super behind at this point but I'm going to keep endeavoring for a sketch a day. The topic is desktop computers, so...here goes. Not sure where to start with these but I wanted to put at least something up for the time being.
