Re: Define: Design

Sure that works but you are missing out a huge other area we should acknowledge, as they will slowly move into areas of what we consider traditional designers. That being said, I do agree, visual/verbal communications should be join as one under "...

@tixe: I'm sure that there are a lot of things happening, but I'm not at liberty to say. Why not call the studio and have a chat with the branch director?

Re: how do you spec in china?

Excel should be only one of your tools in china. Almost all manufacturers in China should be able to accept 3D files. I would suggest to complement your excel files with 3D or at least 2D drawings.

Re: Op-Ed: Chinese-inspired design is the future of design

Hi David, Interesting post, abet a rather long rhetoric. I have also been thinking about this as well, but more from an Asian (of which China is part of) context. Having worked in, with and around China for a number of years, the challenges of Chinese Inspired Designs has to do with localization and...

Re: Define: Design

I like Yo's diagram as designers these days are evolving into very different being from what we know. With platforms like Ponoko, Kickstarter and CKIE, almost anyone can be a designer. In fact there many there are many designers not classically trained as designers are becoming designers. Furthermor...

Re: Is Japanese or Korean more useful in ID?

Hi Guys, I agree Chinese or Mandarin is a much better language overall, but the author is asking which is better in ID? If it is in ID you might like to consider what the country where the language is from is doing for our profession. Japan has a strong and long history in design, and on par with mu...

Re: Discussion about the IDSA

Hello everyone, First off its been awhile, but I thought I might share a few of my thoughts. Next, unfortu...

Jon, I believe Agile Design has a objective of running a project and prototyping quick without the specs fully fleshed out. Then allow during the process, time to make improvement or iterations. Sound familiar? I had a discussion with a UX designer and according to him this process actually was insp...
