Re: BMW Designworks Singapore shuts down - Moving to Shangha

I'm not entirely sure of that, Singapore isn't too hot on free speech either but it still doesn't hold a candle to the PRC in terms of paranoia over the issue. On another note, I personally don't hold much stock in creativity of the large numbers design grads being churned out by Chinese universitie...

I once met a French salesgirl for Ferrari Shanghai who explained that a couple of times a year the Ferrari factory would open up its doors to Ferrari owners to test drive new models and see how the cars are manufactured. As part of the tour the group was taken to an idyllic Italian restaurant up in ...

Re: Op-Ed: Chinese-inspired design is the future of design

Steppenwolf I agreeded with your post before last about this country mostly churning out poor design but with your last post I have problems. Maybe they practice Mao's words ""Letting a hundred flowers blossom and a hundred schools of thought contend is the policy for promoting progress in the arts ...

Re: Op-Ed: Chinese-inspired design is the future of design

You know how in the 80's Japanese stuff was real hot. And in blade runner there is all that Japanese influence. If anyone finds themselves in Hangzhou 杭州 40 minutes out of Shanghai Hongqiao station feel free to message me. We are awash in loughborough and Brunel undergrads in this city (not necessarily a good thing  ) and would welcome any other designers out here.

Re: how do you spec in china?

@ c-m-e I'm afraid your problem is the ever present 'China factor' (note HK and Taiwan are exempt) in regards to excel being used for spec'ing projects. You have possibly come across one of the following situations: A: The pirate copy of word/adobe acrobat has failed and they are too lazy and or inc...
