Re: Does alumni connection help?

I found it to be helpful. Landed first FT job through a classmate, and second gig through a friend of a friend (no school connection there, just through meeting the right people at right time willing to connect the dots). Once at an interview, I realized many folks in the studio attended same school...

Re: What would you call this part?!

Nailed it. Thank you guys. I was trying to find out if that part is a stock & readily available for purchase for my own frankeinstein'd design. So far I haven't found anything similar or close to it online - starting to think it's a custom part + built in valve .

What would you call this part?!

Anyone know the official part name for that shower cap/sprinkler attachment at the end of this shower bag?!

Can't seem to narrow it down on McMaster-carr :/

Re: What can you create/fix using rope?

Sounds a lot like...a school project?

Also think about climbing ropes and the pully system climbers use. And various knot configurations.

Re: Portfolio Review!

@KenoLeon Thank you for a great review! You hit the nail on the head about needing to be succinct in project description. I tend to over-communicate my involvement in each project. I was involved from A-Z of development for all projects, so you can understand the struggle and my overt enthusiasm to ...

Re: Lost and in need of help

Hi Santiago, I was in the same boat for awhile, graduating in 2009 when it seemed like a dead-end to pursue ID. Have you considered taking night/summer classes with a strong focus in direction within design? I only mention this because while your portfolio is pretty solid, it spreads over wide range...

Portfolio Review!

Hi everyone, I would love your set of eyes to view my (never finished) portfolio. The first three projects (digital scale, salad spinner, cookie crafty kit) are farther along than the rest so you're welcome to prioritize those and provide feedback. Any comments related to content, quality, layout, c...

Re: What are you reading?

@Architorture, that book (Let my people go surfing) is on my list!

I've been on a sci-fi binge lately, read Ender's Game, Ready Player One and The Circle. Highly recommend The Circle, if you're into sci-fi and also if you're a big fan of The Black Mirror episodes on Netflix.

Re: Sketching in Seattle's coffee shops

I've been to that Drink & Draw event at Capitol Cider in Capitol Hill few years ago. Something about 20+ choices of cider and endless supply of charcoal sparked confidence to fearlessly sketch through the night. Glad to see the event continue

Re: Portfolio Review

Hi Karl, In your Bark project, you mentioned in one of the pages “A lot of inspiration was taken from Omlet who design pet products in the UK.” As an audience reviewing your work without any background, I don’t know what Omlet is?… a brand reference/mood board referencing your inspiration would fill...

Re: Share your Accepted school portfolio

I agree with Sangoma - attending national portfolio review provided the feedback I needed. Here's a sample of my HS portfolio from 2004! It's missing few pieces but you get the idea. Still life & portrait focused with varying materials to show capabilities. My high school did not offer figure drawin...

Re: Grad Website Critique

I really enjoyed your Securus Knife project! The form is spot on and really demonstrates your modeling skills. A model in SW then rendered in KeyShot would be pretty awesome. And maybe even a life style / action shot of the knife in the end.. I reviewed the "Rememory- Medical Diagnose Tool" project....

Re: Portfolio Review please

I tried accessing your portfolio on my phone and this is what it looks like..(see attached). It's probably the last thing you need to fuss over but having your portfolio seamlessly transition from web to pdf to phone will definitely show quality and thoughtfulness. :D
