Re: Main Page ID Posts

Agreed. I've been frequenting the website less often because I honestly just can't relate to the topics anymore. I fell in love with hipstomp's recent case studies of pure form & function designs: http://www.core77.com/blog/object_culture/akro-mils_industrial_storage_solutions_part_1_indicator_bins_...

Re: choose Cincinnati, or wait on CMU's waiting list???

By interaction design do you mean in the realm of UX Research, digital prototyping, and design thinking? Because you're definitely going to get that stuff at CMU. However, you are definitely not going to get formal training in Web/UI/Motion/New Media Design or produce high fidelity projects.

Re: iOS Lock Screen

This is a very polished mock-up and while I'm always in favor of symmetry, I still take issue with this interface. Giving equal real estate to both the camera and lock screen, this interface seems to assume that you use the camera just as frequently as you unlock your phone. I think it's necessary t...

Re: Looking for a gel-like material for a sculpture

How big is the whole piece? I've been using clear polyester resin for a furniture project and it's been giving me great results. It also doesn't heat up as much as epoxy does during the curing process. The only thing is that it's pretty expensive but Tap Plastics, where I bought the resin, is locate...

Re: Biomimicry

What aspect of Biomimicry are you interested in? The definition is extremely broad unless you narrow it down yourself. It can be taking direct inspiration from nature (like replicating the exact material structure of a plant/animal to give the same characteristics to a man-made object) or it could e...

Re: Biomimicry Student Design Challenge

BTW if anyone's interested in doing this with me, my senior design thesis is a Biomimicry product line and I'd love to enter (but alas I have no extra team member)

Re: portfolio site feedback

Technical Feedback: - I'm on Chrome and your website takes a really long time to load. I was looking through your code and your BG image is 1.8 mb (which is crazy). I would re-size in photoshop and make sure it's at 72dpi and click "save for web" next time. - You also have a 5px by 5px artifact that...

Re: Project OCHA - Phone concept

Just as a quick tip, I would leave the renderings and marketing lingo alone for now. Your process is appearing very jumpy/erratic as you go from rough sketches to psd renderings back to sketches and then presentation spreads. You're just in the very early stages of this project and I'd really like t...

Re: Students online presence

I'd also suggest using your actual name (or some witty version of it thereof - looking at you tarngerine) for your social media outlets. It gets people associating your work with your name. Not to mention it forces you to not say stupid stuff on the internet underneath the guise of anonymity. Unless...

Re: Apple HQ

Sure, practicality is a really important issue. I work in one of the buildings that's about to turn into that spaceship. From a practicality aspect I can't wait to see how this new building improves work life at Apple. Right now, the problem with sunlight is that there's not enough as opposed to too...
