Re: Places to visit in Stockholm and Copenhagen?

Hej! I just spent 6 months in Billund (middle of Denmark) doing an Internship at LEGO. Cheap and good in Copenhagen is to catch a canal boat ride in Nyhavn and go out into the harbour, and you can drink on board (if the sun is shining it is glorious). The Design Museum is pretty good but small- they...

Re: ELIO affordable efficient Transportation

A car-moped? Single seater, super cheap, great fuel efficiency, but protected from the elements and you don't need to wear a helmet. Might work better where scooters are more popular. I've seen a few of these sorts of things around, which solve all the problems except for helmet wearing: http://imag...

Re: Again? Rhianna PUMA's new Creative Director

Think back ten years, whoever the Lady Gaga or Rihanna of 2004 was, and imagine them as the "creative design lead" of whichever brand/ product, and how ridiculous that looks. Then cast your mind back to 1994, 1984 etc. and how more and more ludicrous it becomes.

Re: 3D Printing Holy Grail?

My Up! Mini is pretty bullet proof, only major issue is wide flat prints not sticking in cold weather. In the Fab Lab where I work however all the Ups have extrusion and sticking problems at various times, mainly due to them being used a lot. The lab had borrowed a stratasys mojo which produced beau...

Re: Nike sues former designers

From the news links about this story, it appears the three Nike designers have been hoisted on their own petard. At my previous job in a big firm they drilled into employees everything you do could be recorded and to treat every correspondence as if one day it would be reported in the paper. That do...

Re: Microsoft Lync- anyone use it?

If you are just joining the meeting you should get sent a link to join - you should be able to click it before the meeting begins to load the web client into your browser. You should be able to give it a shot before the meeting starts. Just what I wanted to hear, cheers. I've been sent a link. I've...

Microsoft Lync- anyone use it?

I've been invited to a Microsoft Lync online meeting, but I've been told by the meeting organiser I don't need to download anything for it, and that it integrates into Skype. It looks like the new Netmeeting, but according to Microsoft, it isn't available in Australia:( http://products.office.com/en...

This is a good radio documentary about Comedians and mental illness, that has some interesting bits about mental health and creativity:

Re: Are we ruining the world?

Be careful with the 'cost' of any polluting/ green technology. Lots of low price items (petrol, corn, solar panels, cotton) are artificially low due to subsidies. The cost of a lot of these items don't take into account externalities - i.e. you can pollute for free rather than paying the cost to cle...

Re: Smart Design SF is shutting down

Is it an overall trend or like the peterme.com link, a SF/ Silicon Valley tech money trend? If it's caused by the growth in design work to make internal hiring more economical (especially with cashed up tech companies) overall it's good for the industry. (speaking of, the word "design" is auto corre...
